How this FAQ works
What this is
This is an unofficial, independently maintained community FAQ for Math Academy users. It is not Math Academy documentation and it does not speak on behalf of Math Academy. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Math Academy.
Each question gets one durable page. A page records what the available evidence supports; it does not argue a position or judge Math Academy’s decisions.
Evidence first
No factual answer is published without evidence. For every published question:
- at least one source is required;
- the current answer cites its sources inline, using small chips that name the source type (and, where it is unambiguous, the status) and link to the matching entry under Sources;
- every timeline event points to a source.
Wording around the sources is kept minimal and neutral. Where an explanatory sentence makes a factual claim of its own, it is cited too.
What the status labels mean
Each page shows one status, labelled Answer based on. It describes the evidence behind the current answer, which means the latest evidence on the page. Statuses describe the nature of the evidence; they are not a universal ranking.
Official MA
The current answer is supported by an official Math Academy-owned channel or publication, such as official documentation, site copy, an official account, or a formal podcast or video publication representing Math Academy.
Example: A page in Math Academy’s own documentation states how a feature works, and the answer cites that page.
MA Staff
Supported by an identifiable Math Academy employee speaking in a less formal context, such as a Discord message or a personal or staff social media response. It is not treated as formal company policy.
Example: A Math Academy staff member answers a question in the community Discord, and the answer cites that message.
Observed
Supported by reproducible behavior of the product rather than an explicit statement. Observations describe what the product did when checked, on the date given.
Example: Opening a particular screen shows a particular option, and the same result can be reproduced by others.
Inferred
A conclusion derived from available evidence, but not explicitly stated by Math Academy and not directly established through simple observation.
Example: Two official pages describe related behavior and, taken together, imply an answer that neither page states directly.
Unknown
The available evidence is insufficient to establish a supported current answer. The page records what is and is not known.
Example: Several people have asked, but no source in the record addresses the question.
The status is always shown as text with an icon, never by color alone.
Sources and the timeline
Every page keeps its own list of sources. A source records its type (for example MA Docs, Discord, podcast), a label, a link to the original, the date it was published, and, where relevant, the author and a media timestamp. A source may also have an archived screenshot, kept collapsed under the source as backup evidence — the original link remains the primary citation.
The timeline lists relevant statements and observations, newest first. Each entry shows a date, the status that applied to that statement at the time, and its source. Timelines stay neutral: entries are never labelled “contradicted” or “superseded” unless the original source says so itself. Historical statements are not silently removed because the current answer has changed.
Last reviewed is the date the maintainer last deliberately checked the page against the evidence and the current known state. It can change even when the answer text does not.
When sources differ
When sources say different things, both stay in the timeline. A newer source can change the current answer, but newer does not automatically mean stronger: the authority and context of each source matter. The current answer describes the present state neutrally, and does not imply bad faith on anyone’s part. Readers can follow the sequence from the dates and sources.
Corrections and new submissions
Every question page has a Suggest a correction link. You can also suggest a new question or submit evidence through the public tracker. Please include an original source link whenever one exists.
Submissions are not treated as verified just because a link or screenshot was supplied. The maintainer checks them and writes the published answer. Accepted corrections update the answer if needed, refresh Last reviewed, add or adjust evidence, and add a timeline event when it is historically relevant. Inappropriate submissions are declined — for example harassment, speculation about individuals, unsupported accusations, broad screenshot dumps, spam, or private information.
Privacy and screenshots
Archived screenshots are cropped to the smallest useful context, with unrelated messages removed. Ordinary community usernames and avatars are redacted when identity isn’t relevant. Math Academy staff identity is preserved when it matters for establishing a source’s authority. Screenshots, quotes, logos and other third-party material remain the material of their respective rights holders.
Takedown and privacy requests
If a page includes unnecessary personal information or unnecessary third-party material, please say so through the tracker. Reasonable requests are reviewed promptly. Where possible the unnecessary material is removed or redacted while the factual citation record is kept through the original link or a narrower piece of evidence. Takedown handling is not used to rewrite the historical record.
